A percentile compares your child with children of the same age and sex on the World Health Organization standards. The 50th percentile means the child is taller than exactly half of them; the 90th means taller than 90 percent. It is a position, not a grade.
The direction. A child who stays around the same percentile over time is growing at their own pace, even if that percentile is low. A sharp change between measurements is what a pediatrician wants to see, which is why KidGrowth plots every measurement on the curve rather than only the latest one.
There is a widely used estimate from the parents' heights: for boys, the parents' average plus 6.5 cm; for girls, minus 6.5 cm. It is a reference point with a range of several centimetres either way, not a prediction. The app works it out once both parents' heights are entered.
In the first year, at every clinic visit; after that, once every three to six months is enough to see the line. Measuring against the same wall, at the same time of day and without shoes is worth more than measuring often but inconsistently.

That the child is exactly in the middle: half of children of the same age and sex are shorter and half are taller, on the WHO standards. Anything between the 3rd and the 97th percentile is considered the usual range.
Not on its own. Naturally small children grow along a low, steady percentile. What justifies a conversation with the pediatrician is mainly a marked drop between measurements, which is why the app shows the trend. It does not give a diagnosis.
From birth. The curves use the WHO standards for ages 0 to 5 and the WHO reference for ages 5 to 19, so the same chart follows the child the whole way.
Yes. Every measurement carries its own date, so you can copy the card backwards and get the full curve from day one.
Yes, and it classifies the result against the WHO tables for age and sex, because in children the number alone says nothing without the age. The classification is context, not a diagnosis.
No, and that is deliberate. KidGrowth is a log and a timer: it records what you typed and counts down to the next dose using an interval you set. The amount is kept as free text and nothing is calculated from it. Dosing is between you and your doctor or pharmacist.
No. It is not a medical device. The charts show what you measured, and the WHO reference is context only. It does not replace medical advice, developmental assessment, or clinical decisions.
Israel, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland. The schedules come from the official publications and are bundled inside the app, so they work offline. Marking a visit is a note to yourself that it happened, not a medical record: results and batch numbers stay with the clinic.
Yes, on premium. There are two kinds of invite: a co-parent who can edit everything, and a carer with view-only access who sees allergies, sizes and the emergency contact. A view-only carer can also log a dose they gave, so you do not assume the child missed it, but cannot edit or delete records.
Named family records do not leave your device without an account, and the app is fully usable that way. Anonymous growth samples (age, height, weight, sex, country; no names) are sent unless you turn them off in Settings. Restoring a family onto a new phone still needs a signed-in premium account. The privacy policy has the full detail.
Yes. Measurements, sizes, allergies, the check-up schedule, the illness log and the timer all work with no network. A connection is needed only for sync and sharing, and even then sync catches up when you are back online.
Free includes full on-device tracking for up to two children. Premium adds cloud sync and family sharing, sibling compare, and PDF export for the clinic.
In the app: Settings, then Delete account. You can also use the delete-account page on this site, which works even if you have already uninstalled. Uninstalling on its own removes local data but not a cloud account.
Yes, on Google Play, for any Android device: the button at the top of the page goes straight to the listing. The iPhone version is still in the works, and the form on the home page, below the store badges, is where you leave an email so we can tell you when it reaches the App Store.
